INTRODUCTION

At the formation of Anjuman Islah-ul-Muslimeen in 1932, the inhabitants of this area were subjected to oppression, cruelty and exploitation. The dominance of the non-muslims in trade and education on one side and the feudal lords of their own nation on the other hand had made the poor and helpless class of the Muslims their slaves. Unawareness of Islamic teachings, old rituals and irreligious beliefs gave birth to many social evils. Owing to illiteracy and uneducation, the people were so deprived of moral courage that they were unable to raise voice against any injustice done to them.
In these adverse and unfavorable circumstances, some sympathetic, warm hearted and zealous individuals took the voluntary responsibility of the religious and social reformation of the muslims. The feudal lords, as usual, by using unfair, immoral and illegal tact have tried in each and every possible way to oppress any voice raises against them. But their every attempt proved a house of cards against the solid, unflinching and staunch determination and perseverance of the workers of the Anjuman. In spite of the hardships of imprisonments and coward life taking attempts, they remained the torch bearer of righteousness; they not fought dauntlessly on religious, social or political fronts but gave sold response (retaliated) in every walk of walk. There upon, the poor masses got a sweeping victory in the general elections of 1945-46 and then in the municipality elections of 1954, which gave a severe blow to lordship.
In its career of 75 years, Anjuman not only rendered valuable services in the religious, social, health and educational sectors but its active participation is unforgettable in Pakistan Movement, Tehreek-e-Khatim-e-Nabuwat and rehabilitation of refugees soon after the formation of Pakistan. In the wars of 1965 and 1971, the workers of the Anjuman kept the people determined along with the voluntary duties for the security of the locality. Even today, the Anjuman is serving the area in each walk of people with same zeal and spirit.
